Sad news for DC fans today. 2027, the year that both Batman and Superman were set to appear on the big screen, just lost one of its two DC Studios releases. As revealed by Deadline, The Batman Part II has been caught up in a release date shift at Warner Bros. and will now release on February 18, 2028.
But in a moment of perfect timing, director Matt Reeves has calmed upset fans by debuting new camera test footage of Robert Pattinson back in his Batsuit. The footage, which you can watch below, shows Pattinson turning to camera in his iconic cowl as police car lights shine in the background and snow falls around them. Another sign the long-awaited sequel is set to take place in winter.

The move in release dates comes as J.J. Abrams’ sci-fi fantasy movie The Great Beyond starring Glen Powell and Jenna Ortega moves from it’s November 13, 2026 release date to to October 1, 2027, the date formerly held by The Batman Part II. That chain reaction is what has caused the Dark Knight to shift to 2028.
Additionally, Warners is doing a switcheroo with Sam Esmail’s Panic Carefully and New Line horror sequel Revenge of La Llorona swapping dates. Panic Carefully was on Feb. 26, 2027 and now goes to April 9, 2027 in IMAX, while Revenge of La Llorona was dated for April 9 next year and moves up to February 26.
Once again to be directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman Part II stars Robert Pattinson, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell alongside with new additions Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Jayme Lawson, Charles Dance, Gil Perez-Abraham, and Sebastian Koch.
