Capcom joined a host of other game developers at this years Summer Game Fest 2026, dropping a massive double-dose of news for the monster hunter community. Series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Takuro Hiraoka took to the stage to officially reveal that Monster Hunter Wilds will be getting a massive, game-changing expansion titled Ascendance, slated for a 2027 release.
If that wasn’t enough to cheer, the developers paired the reveal with the official confirmation that the base game of Monster Hunter Wilds is now in active development for the Nintendo Switch 2.
While details regarding the Switch 2 port’s specific release timing are being held for a future confirmation, the base game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
Following the surprise trailer, Tsujimoto and Hiraoka sat down to dive deep into the specific gameplay and features that will help redefine the hunting experience when Ascendance arrives.
- New Locale – The expansion introduces the Skybound Eyrie, where floating ruin-adorned
islands are suspended above the Forbidden Lands. The new terrain provides fun ways to travatop Seikret mounts, gliding between the floating isles. - Boost Bracer – Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance adds new actions for each of the 14 weatypes via the Boost Bracer. This fresh piece of equipment in hunters’ arsenals introduces
exhilarating new attacks, combos, and mobility options to give hunters more versatile options while tackling tougher challenges. - Master Rank – The expansion will feature a wealth of content for newcomers and veterans awith even more profound challenges awaiting hunters as they seek to unravel the mystery
surrounding the sudden appearance of Elder Dragons in the Forbidden Lands. The story for

coordination and gave a glimpse of returning fan-favourite Elder Dragons including Kushala
