Ninja Kiwi, the acclaimed studio behind the hit Bloons franchise, has announced a new Steam Next Fest demo for Zombie Assault: Resurgence, the latest game in the Zombie Assault series set to launch in 2026. Players of the demo can contribute to a community kill count, which if completed will unlock an exclusive weapon at launch.

Set 100 years after the last game in the Zombie Assault series, Zombie Assault: Resurgence gives players the chance to step into the role of an elite mercenary across three distinct classes. Players will face down new and returning threats in the search for the secrets behind the return of humanity’s old enemy.

Running from February 23rd to March 2nd, the next fest demo brings three classes, three distinct maps and five game modes full of zombie blasting action. Players will face down two terrifying bosses: the regurgitator and the shredder, alone or with up to four total players in online co-op. In between missions, players can level up and upgrade weapons at the Aegis Station, accept bounties and test powerful builds before deploying on increasingly challenging missions. This list of deadly tools and features will feature more to come at the full launch of the game.

During the Next Fest demo, players will be able to contribute to a global community kill count. Every zombie kill counts toward a shared total. If the community hits the target by the end of Next Fest, everyone who participated will unlock an exclusive weapon at full launch, the Morlok Frostbite Pistol, a unique cryo-based sidearm only available to those who joined the hunt.

Players can track progress throughout Next Fest via zombieassault.com, so whether you are playing solo or in a full squad, every undead you drop helps the entire community!

Players won’t be fighting alone, as they’ll have the chance to team up with the developers. ZA:R devs looking to squad-up throughout Next Fest, with further details available soon on the Discord (discord.gg/ninjakiwi).

So, ten-hut, Merc! Those zombies won’t wait forever; get ready to fight for the future of humanity.
