Back in September 2025 Dark Horse Comics announced that Lara Croft was finally returning to comics for a new adventure. Written by Buffy the Last Vampire Slayer mastermind Casey Gilly, the first issue of Tomb Raider: Sacred Artifacts arrives in comic book stores on January 14 and today we have our first look at interior artwork.

As revealed back in September, cover art for the first issue is provided by Taurin Clarke (Maskerade, Miles Morales: Spider-Man). Here’s a look at that stunning cover:

The book arrives at an exciting time for Lara Croft fans. With not one but two new Tomb Raider games set to release in the coming months and production about to get underway on a live-action series for Prime Video. It’s great to see the franchise also returning to comics at the same time these other exciting projects are getting underway.

But before we dive in to the newly released pages, let’s take a look at the synopsis for the series:

When Croft Manor goes up in flames, it forces Lara to take stock of her life and figure out what is important to her. But a confrontation with a mysterious foe who has gotten their hands on a dangerous and familiar artifact launches Lara into a cross-continental journey, doing what she does best: raiding tombs and questing for legendary relics.

Joining Gilly – and Croft – on this four-issue adventure are artist Antonio Di Caprio (Samuel Stern, KAYLA), colorist Eren Angiolini (Critical Role: Tales of Exandra–Artagan, DC Pride 2025) and letterer AndWorld Design (He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Canto). Take a look at a handful of new pages featuring their artwork below:
