Elysian Film Group and Anonymous Content have unveiled the official trailer and poster for the highly anticipated UK and ROI re-release of Hayao Miyazaki’s Academy Award®-winning animated masterpiece, Spirited Away. Longtime fans and new viewers of Studio Ghibli alike can experience the fantastical film on the big screen once again on 26th December 2024.
Winner of the Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature, the film is a “must see masterpiece” (Digital Spy) that follows Chihiro trapped in a fantastical world full of spirits and demons and continues to be celebrated as “the great treasure of 21st-century animation” (Financial Times).

The Standard call it “Awe-inspiring”, and Financial Times wanted to award it “Six stars out of five” for a treasure that lives and breathes on the big screen. To experience the back in the cinema since its 2003 release means all audiences will once again get to have that “magical experience” (Empire).

Written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, the legendary Academy Award®-winning filmmaker, Spirited Away’s UK and Ireland cinema re-release follows the successful summer theatrical re-release of his family favourite My Neighbor Tortoro, and the incredible success of Miyazaki’s 2024 hit, the Academy Award®-winning The Boy and the Heron. The Boy and the Heron premiered in the UK and ROI Boxing Day last year and went on to become the highest-grossing Studio Ghibli release in UK history, and recently soared in the UK Home Entertainment chart.
