Review
Dark, mysterious, and bursting with expansive lore, The House of Slaughter: Azure Part One is another riveting piece of the Slaughterverse puzzle. From BOOM! Studios comes another entry into the House of Slaughter, bringing another riveting story. Following on from the revenge-filled, action-packed, and riveting The Butcher’s War comes an unknown new horror, so this time around, we are eagerly waiting to find out what fresh horror awaits as the Azure masks.
An unknown origin stalks the halls of a hunter seeking answers called Nolan. We learn that the totem is connected to something dark and mysterious, so mysterious that the description for this issue is “readers of the series will never look at them the same after this”. Totems have always had a strange aura about them throughout the Something is Killing the Children and The House of Slaughter comics, but up until this point, they have remained a somewhat mystery, so having this deep dive into their lore is fascinating.
The House of Slaughter: Azure series promises to delve further into the lore and world that we have established thus far. If you’re a fan of this world and everything it has to offer, then you can’t afford to miss it. Azure Part One ends with quite a shocking twist, blowing the lid off what we knew about Totems. This sets the stage for what feels like a thrilling story, and I cannot wait to see how it unravels.
Verdict
The House of Slaughter: Azure series expands on the established lore, ending Part One with a shocking twist on Totems that promises an exciting story ahead.
