Noomi Rapace is set to star in the psychological thriller Reckoner, written and directed by Nissar Modi (writer of Z For Zachariah) who will be making his big screen directorial debut. The film is produced by XYZ Films and Two & Two Pictures. XYZ will continue world sales on the project at the upcoming Marché du Film in Cannes.
Reckoner is a part of Two & Two and XYZ’s partnership to produce films from first- and second-time genre filmmakers from underrepresented demographics. Previously, they have partnered on the recently announced Hallow Road starring Rosamund Pike and Matthew Rhys and He Bled Neon starring Joe Cole and have also collaborated on Babak Anvari’s Under the Shadow and I Came By, as well as History of Evil, written and directed by Bo Mirhosseni. The film is also a part of XYZ’s New Visions slate of films, an initiative designed to spotlight the boldest new voices alongside established talent striking a new path in the international space.
In the film, an affluent woman’s (Rapace) carefully constructed life is disrupted by a young man connected to a tightly held secret from her past.
Rapace is an internationally renowned, Swedish-born actress known for her compelling portrayals spanning both the silver screen and television. She garnered widespread recognition for her iconic rendition of Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish cinematic adaptations of Stieg Larsson’s MILLENNIUM SERIES. Additional, notable performances include Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS, Valdimar Jóhannsson’s supernatural drama LAMB, and, more recently, in Apple TV+’s CONSTELLATION.
“We are immensely excited to join forces with an exceptionally talented team for “Reckoner.” It is an honour to have Noomi Rapace on board to complement Nissar’s electrifying directorial debut,” said Two & Two Pictures.
Current titles from the XYZ Films studio include Sundance title SKYWALKERS: A LOVE STORY, which sold to Netflix and BLACKBERRY starring Gotham and Independent Spirit-award nominee Glenn Howerton, which was released by IFC Films, Atom Egoyan’s TIFF selection SEVEN VEILS starring Amanda Seyfried, ASH starring Eiza González and Aaron Paul and directed by Flying Lotus, recent TIFF acquisition BACKSPOT starring Devery Jacobs and Evan Rachel Wood, the Netflix Original HAVOC, directed by Gareth Evans and starring Tom Hardy and Forrest Whitaker and DANIELA FOREVER directed by Nacho Vigalondo and starring Henry Golding and Beatrice Grannó.
