Good news from the realm. According to a report via Variety, the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingsoms: The Hedge Knight has found its two main leads.
The prequel series based on George R. R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg follows Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg. Peter Claffey is set to play Duncan, and Dexter Sol has been cast as Egg.
official logline:
A century before the events of ‘Game of Thrones,’ two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.
Martin published three novels in his Tales of Dunk and Egg series, including “The Hedge Knight” (1998), The Sworn Sword (2003), and The Mystery Knight (2010). In 2015, all three were collected and published as A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Considering this series is focusing on The Hedge Knight, there’s a chance that future series (if there are any) could adapt further tales. It’s way too early to tell, but the potential is definitely there.
George R. R. Martin will serve as both writer and executive producer alongside Ira Parker, who was a co-executive producer on House of the Dragon. Game of Thrones veterans Ryan Condal, Owen Harris, Sarah Bradshaw, and Vince Gerardis will also serve as executive producers.
