Ben Affleck’s sequel to his 2016’s The Accountant has received quite a promising update after being stuck in limbo for quite some time. Directed by Gavin O’Connor, The Accountant follows Christian Wolff who, you guessed it, is an accountant. However, this particular accountant works with various criminal organisations, and is as slippery as they come. The film was actually a hit at the box office and received a fair amount of praise for its approach to autism and its action sequences. A sequel has been in development for several years, but this is one of the first updates we’ve received in a while.
According to a report via Deadline, the long-awaited sequel is set to enter production in the second half of 2024. Affleck and Matt Damon recently just announced that they’ll be working on a crime thriller for Netflix called Animals. The report states that Neflix were quick to jump on board in order to meet Affleck’s schedule where he could shoot Animals first and then follow it up with The Accountant 2.
Currently, not much is actually known about the sequel. An update from earlier this month heavily suggested that O’Connor will be returning to direct, and Bill Dubuque will be back to pen the script. However, nothing has been confirmed as of yet. It’s not even clear if we’ll be dealing with the same members of the stacked cast, such as Anna Kendrick, JK Simmons, or Jon Bernthal.
