First DEAD BOY DETECTIVES Trailer Teases Sandman Connections
Another Geeked Week trailer from Netflix as the streamer debuts a first look at upcoming DC adaption, DEAD BOY DETECTIVES.

Time to take a look at another trailer for Netflix’s 2023 Geeked Week. This time we’re getting our first look at Dead Boy Detectives. The Neil Gaiman adaption is set to debut on the streamer in 2024.
The teaser introduces fans to Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri), a pair of dead friends who have decided to remain on Earth as supernatural detectives. Both characters first appeared in the pages of 1991’s Sandman #25 by Neil Gaiman, Matt Wagner, and Malcolm Jones III before going on to become a staple of DC’s now defunct Vertigo Universe.

A full synopsis for Dead Boy Detectives reads: “Do you have a pesky ghost haunting you? Has a demon stolen your core memories? You may want to ring the Dead Boy Detectives. Meet Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri), ‘the brains’ and ‘the brawn’ behind the Dead Boy Detectives agency. Teenagers born decades apart who find each other only in death, Edwin and Charles are best friends and ghosts … who solve mysteries. They will do anything to stick together — including escaping evil witches, Hell and Death herself. With the help of a clairvoyant named Crystal (Kassius Nelson) and her friend Niko (Yuyu Kitamura), they are able to crack some of the mortal realm’s most mystifying paranormal cases.”
The series was originally ordered at MAX after the characters were in introduced during the third season of Doom Patrol. There they were played by Sebastian Croft and Ty Tennant. But after the formation of DC Studios the series moved to Netflix and was subsequently confirmed to take place in the same universe as their highly successful Sandman series.
A premiere date for Dead Boy Detectives has yet to be confirmed.
