Hollywood are making the brave leap to conquer the Kingdom of Hyrule. That’s right, we’re getting a The Legend Of Zelda movie, and unlike Universal’s box office giant The Super Mario Bros., this adaptation will be live-action.
Creator and game developer Shigeru Miyamoto took to X to announce that Nintendo are collaborating with Sony Pictures to develop this Legend of Zelda movie.
“This is Miyamoto. I have been working on the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda for many years now with Avi Arad-san, who has produced many mega hit films.”
Miyamoto continued, “I have asked Avi-san to produce this film with me, and we have now officially started the development of the film with Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production. It will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it.”
The Legend of Zelda movie will be directed by Wes Ball, director of the Maze Runner trilogy and the upcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, written by Jurassic World screenwriter Derek Connolly and produced by Miyamoto. The currently untitled Zelda movie will be produced by Avi Arad, who produced every live-action Spider-Man movie, as well as the more recent animated Spider-Verse movies.
As of right now, plot and casting details are non-existent. However, with the news now out in the open, we could start hearing more very soon. We’ll be sure to keep you posted.
