It appears as though the titans will have to wait for their big cinematic return. Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment have decided to push back the release of the next installment in the Monsterverse franchise Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Originally set for a March 15th release, Godzilla and Kong’s will now be released on April 12th, 2024. It’s not a huge setback, but we know it will be worth the wait.
The delay comes as the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes continue, meaning that actors may not participate in any sort of promotion until a fair deal is achieved.
Adam Wingard is back helming this next colossal blockbuster with Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry and Kaylee Hottle returning. There will also be some newcomers- Dan Stevens, Fala Chen and Rachel House have also joined the cast, but their roles are currently unknown.
This latest entry in the Monsterverse franchise follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.
