Well, this was unexpected. Not only do we have a release date for the next film in the MonsterVerse franchise, we also have an official title AND a very short and mysterious teaser trailer. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire will hit theaters on March 15th, 2024 and will see the two Titans team up to face a world-ending threat. What could that threat be? And does it have anything to do with this new Titan on the ominous throne…
The official teaser was shared via social media and it has already raised quite a few questions. Check it out below:
So… That definitely isn’t Kong. The arms are way too long and slender to be Kong. If anything, it looks more like an Orangutan- But it could well be a descendant of Kong rather than a new species altogether. What this does mean is that we’ll be meeting a brand new Titan. However, is this the “world-ending threat”? Could one Titan similar to Kong really bring the Gods to their knees? Or is there something more sinister brewing within the Hollow Earth? Hopefully we’ll find out more when we receive our first full trailer in the near future. For now, all we can do is speculate.
Adam Wingard is back helming this next colossal installment, with Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry and Kaylee Hottle returning. There will also be some newcomers- Dan Stevens, Fala Chen and Rachel House have also joined the cast, but their roles are currently unknown.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the fifth film in the MonsterVerse franchise, will arrive on the big screen on March 15th, 2024. As of right now, not much is actually known about the sequel, so we’ll be sure to keep you posted on the latest news from the MonsterVerse.
