In this issue we see the battle for Safehaven heat up as Mistress Vile continues her attack on our gracious planet hell bent on achieving her goal of wiping out the Rangers once and for all. Something that Rangers fans would never have imagined will need to happen for the Rangers to have at chance of going toe to toe with the Vile one, teaming up with arch nemesis Lord Zedd! With Drakkon already beginning to show his true colours we were right not to trust him but with Zedd taking his Ranger form is there a part of this iconic villain that the Rangers can trust? As they really re both after the final end game and that’s taking down Vile.
As the book continues we are starting to see that Mistress Vile could well be further to reaching her goal than we thought as she unearths a secret monument that could have catastrophic consequences not just for the Rangers and Earth, the whole universe is at risk, The Darkest Hour has begun….
Once again the writing of this book is phenomenal, Melissa Flores captivates with her infectious writing style, each page draws you further into the book taking you deeper and deeper into the battle field to the point where you can almost feel the action unfolding in your hands. I personally thought after the Eltarian War event there would be very little scope to take the Power Rangers multiverse forward but Melissa has definitely proven that there is definitely plenty of fire left as she injects new life into this world.
Illustrations in this book are covered by Simona Di Gianfelice with the colours by Raúl Angulo, combining their incredible talents to weave a artistic tapestry that explodes on every panel, this epic build up story needed the art to go alongside it and this team have definitely achieved that. I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it the creative team behind these books are the best in the business right now and it definitely shows in this book.
Verdict
Just keep bringing the stars, 5⭐ no where near does this book any justice a near perfect build up to a much anticipated event, this Darkest Hour event is gearing up to be the best yet and I for one am excited to see what’s in store.
