Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Netflix brought the elements to their annual TUDUM event as they delivered a first look at their upcoming live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Netflix unveiled a look at the main cast and then dropped a short teaser trailer showing the familiar symbols of the bending arts.
We got our first, and surprisingly accurate, look at the lovable characters from the hit animated show from 2005 (feel old?) in their live-action form, including Gordon Cormier’s Aang, Kiawentiio’s Katara, Ian Ousley’s Sokka, and Dallas Liu’s Zuko.
What do you think?
The full cast also includes Star Trek legend George Takei as the voice of Koh, the ancient and eerie spirit from the animated show who could steal the face of anyone. Prey‘s Amber Midthunder is set to play Princess Yue, the leader of the Northern Water Tribe who forms a close bond with Sokka, and Community‘s Danny Pudi is joining the show as “The Mechanist”. In the animated show, the Mechanist was an inventor living in an Air Temple who helped forged an air glider for his son Teo’s wheelchair.
