Review
In this issue we go back to get a better understanding of the roots behind the War of The Spark and the true evil that is Tezzeret. Fast forward to current timeline and there is mistrust in the ranks as a resurrected Jace Beleren as he begins to unravel some truths of what went before them. On Amonkhet Liliana, Garruk, and Chandra are indefinitely trapped within a powerful realm, the other Planeswalkers must find a way to find their release but it won’t be as easy as that betrayal is right around the corner and this may well change the course of the landscape forever.
I found this issue has created more excitement for what is to come, since the first issue the strength of the series has been it’s writing and Jed MacKay is certainly the driving force behind it’s strength, in this issue Jed is joined by Rich Douek combining to create a tension filled story that builds the intrigue perfectly as they build up to the following issues.
The illustrations in this issue are once again strong with the artwork being some of the best you will see in comics today, the artistic talent of Jacques Salomon paired with the colouring talent of Arianna Consonni has created a magical combination that injects life into the story giving the reader another dimension creating one of the best reading experiences in comics.
Verdict
A series that gathers strength with each issue, a twisting and turning story that constantly evolves leaving the reader begging for more and I personally can’t wait to see more.
