Review
In this special one shot we see the continuation of the “One Bad Day” series and this time is the iconic villain Bane who gets put into the spot light. Bane is seeing out his days as a washed up wrestler taking out wrestlers dressed as the Batman, in a sad reflection of his glory days and the only way he can physically make ends meet but a chance meeting of a wannabe villian sees him dragged him back into the world he left behind as he begins to until the source of the on going Venom drug problem. Allies are formed to take down the poison that is eating away at the very heart of Gotham.
I have been lucky enough to read the One Bad Day series and so far have I have found the different one shots each have their unique interpretation of iconic characters, Joshua Williamson has written an intense story that highlights the dark back story to Bane that adds more of a deeper dimension to the character we all know and love.
The illustrations from Howard Porter provide the power behind the story injecting a dark energy into the story that brings it to life on every panel, the artwork is typically “DC” dark and atmospheric but using the intensity to illuminate the character of Bane.
Verdict
Another great addition to the One Bad Day series, a story full of darkness and sorrow that highlights the darkness that flows through Bane’s veins, a definite recommendation to any fan of the Gotham world.
