Last night it was the turn of Paramount+ to host its panel at the Winter Television Critics Association presentations. The streamer had several legends of the Star Trek universe on hand to promote the upcoming final season of Star Trek: Picard. The series returns to Prime Video in the UK on February 17, the day after its premiere in the US.
The panel itself featured showrunner Terry Matalas, executive producer Alex Kurtzman along with actors Sir Patrick Stewart, Jeri Ryan, Michelle Hurd, Gates McFadden and Michael Dorn.
One of the most exciting quotes to come from the panel comes from Kurtzman as he explains that there could be more story to tell for Picard and the cast after season 3 comes to an end:
“When we started the series, Patrick [Stewart], and, we all, talked about really wanting it to just be three years, feeling like we could really tell a complete story with the season you’re now seeing as our endpoint.” said Kurtzman. “That being said, anything is possible. If a show blows the doors off the place, as we’re certainly hoping it will, and we’re very, very proud of Season 3, who knows?”
Stewart was quick to agree with Kurtzman, “Absolutely yes… there is still enormous potential for narrative in what we’ve been doing, and there are doors left open, still. We didn’t close all of them.”
During the panel a brand new poster for the upcoming season was also debuted. The poster below puts Jean-Luc Picard front and centre alongside the returning TNG cast, including Brent Spiner’s Lore, Jeri Ryan as Seven and Michelle Hurd as Raffi. The poster also gives us a new look the USS Titan-A being pursued by the Shrike, commanded by Vadic (Amanda Plummer), our season three villain.
The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment, and is distributed internationally by Paramount Global Content Distribution on Prime Video, outside of the U.S. and Canada. For series three, Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, Terry Matalas, Patrick Stewart, Heather Kadin, Aaron Baiers, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Doug Aarniokoski and Dylan Massin serve as executive producers. Terry Matalas serves as showrunner for season three.
Series one and two of Star Trek: Picard are currently available on Prime Video internationally in more than 200 countries and territories, and is distributed concurrently by Paramount+ in the U.S.
