Synopsis
With Blockbuster off the table, the crime families all head to Bludhaven in an attempt to claim the city as their own…including Tony Zucco himself! This should be easy, right? Since his “daughter” Melinda Zucco is currently the mayor, and definitely not secretly working with Nightwing to take down crime bosses?
Review
In this issue we got back to Bludhaven where now that Blockbuster has been removed as crime kingpin it’s time for the other figures of the underworld to step up. One shadowy figure in particular is none other than Tony Zucco who believes now is the time for him to take his seat at the head of the table, however the new Mayor none other than Melinda Zucco, who Tony refers to as his daughter and believed she would have his back but little does he know this Mayor isn’t to be corrupted with the help of Nightwing Bludhaven will be a safe haven once more, but Tony Zucco isn’t going to blend quietly into the backround.
This issue carries on the tradition of stellar writing from the DC stable, Tom Taylor has taken this action icon to another level with this on going series with a writing style that has intrigue mixed seemlessly with all out action. You know it’s a good comic when you read the whole thing in one go, it got me that ingrossed you could’ve dropped a bomb and I would’ve still been deep in Bludhaven.
The artwork is what you would expect from a DC comic publication, dramatically dark with intense colours that give life to the murky world of Bludhaven. Bruno Redondo and Daniele Di Nicuolo work well together on this book with both art styles complimenting each other creating an immersive reading experience.
Verdict
A well deserved 5⭐️ score, an incredible story that is brought to life with intense artwork. A book that is typically DC giving the reader what they would expect and more.
