Review
In this special one shot issue we are introduced to Nahiri the Lithmancer who is the latest character to be introduced into the Magic multiverse. We are taken on a journey of discovery as Nahiri embarks on a soul searching adventure where she begins to find the route of her powers, Nahiri speaks to the mountains and takes energy from the rocks , the ability to utilise the ground we walk on as weapons and protection is a powerful ability to have but how can Nahiri get to grips with this new power? and how can she harness the power to her benefit and protection? A journey that is emotionally charged with moments of thought provoking, a discovery of a potential big character to enter this multiverse with the potential to completely shake things up.
I enjoyed the story and learning the origins of a new character although I can’t quite tell at the moment if we are seeing the beginnings of a new hero or villain, Seanan McGuire has expertly scripted Nahiri’s path to self discovery building a strong new character base which I would love to see more of.
Once again the illustrations of the book are magical and take you on a visual journey you would only expect from a Magic comic, each panel is visually stunning Kath Lobohas expertly captured the very essence of the story.
Verdict
A good introduction of a new strong character, the writing keeps you guessing and the artwork keeps you mesmerised. Nahiri as a character has the potential to become an integral part of the universe good or bad and I can’t wait to see more.
