It’s official. Joaquin Phoenix is returning to the role of The Joker for a sequel. Now, Warner Bros. has revealed that the film will be hitting cinemas 5 years to the day after Todd Philips original Joker movie.
Rumours have been swirling for a while that the sequel, titled Joker: Folie à Deux, would co-star Academy Award-winner Lady Gaga. Tonight, a brand new teaser revealing the film’s release date has also confirmed her involvement in the project.
The short animated teaser, put to the song “Cheek to Cheek”, confirms the October 4, 2024 release date as well as showing off an animated silhouette of Phoenix and Gaga coming together.
Could she be playing a version of Harley Quinn? We’ll have to wait a couple more years to find out…
2019’s Joker starred Joaquin Phoenix in the title role, also starring are Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais, and Shea Whigham.
