Some sad news for horror fans as Deadline is reporting post-production delays are still causing problems for Warner Bros. Discovery. It’s been confirmed that the studio is moving New Line Pictures’ remake of Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot from September 2022 to April 2023.
The studio has made a niche for itself releasing top tier horrors during the American Labor Day weekend. Previous years have seen the launch of It (2017) which took the month’s all-time record of $123.4M. This success was continued in 2018 with The Nun which saw the best opening for The Conjuring franchise with $53.8M and again in 2019 with It: Chapter Two which debuted to $91M. Both It movies were adapted by Gary Dauberman who is directing Salem’s Lot.
The cast includes Lewis Pullman, Makenzie Leigh, Alfre Woodard, Bill Camp, John Benjamin Hickey, Nicholas Crovetti, Jordan Preston Carter, William Sadler, Spencer Treat Clark, Cade Woodward, Debra Christofferson, and Pilou Asbaek.
In Salem’s Lot 2023, “Haunted by an incident from his childhood, author Ben Mears returns to his hometown of Jerusalem’s Lot in search of inspiration for his next book, only to discover the town is being preyed upon by a bloodthirsty vampire and his loyal servant.”
Salem’s Lot will now debut on April 21, 2023.
