We have our new Doctor. But that isn’t the only news that has Doctor Who fans gleaming with excitement. The hit series will be celebrating its 60th anniversary next year in 2023, and Russell T Davies is pulling out the big guns to make it an anniversary to remember. It has been confirmed that David Tennant (the 10th Doctor), and Catherine Tate (Donna Noble) are returning to the world of Doctor Who.
While Tennant has returned before, teaming up with Matt Smith for the 50th anniversary, this will mark Catherine Tate’s first appearance as Donna since 2010. It’s hard not to get excited over the thought of seeing these two back in action together.
However, what we don’t know at this stage is the state of their return. Will it be similar to Tennant’s appearance in 2013 with Matt Smith? Or are we looking at something else entirely? Well, we’re not completely in the dark…
Davies has decided to give fans a little tease, saying “Maybe this is a missing story. Or a parallel world. Or a dream, or a trick, or a flashback. The only thing I can confirm is that it’s going to be spectacular, as two of our greatest stars reunite for the battle of a lifetime.”
Which one could it be? Let us know your thoughts in the comments. Doctor Who returns to screens later in 2022 with a feature-length episode celebrating the centenary of the BBC. That episode is expected to include the regeneration of Whittaker’s thirteenth Doctor.
