May truly is the month for Star Wars. May 4th wasn’t that long ago, we have Obi-Wan Kenobi to look forward to, and now we’ve received an exciting transmission about one of Disney’s most highly anticipated shows. Today, it was announced that Ahsoka, the series focusing on Ahsoka Tano, has entered production. The news was shared online with a very simple image straight from the set.
As with any project set within the world of Star Wars, the production is being kept well under wraps so the image doesn’t really tell us much. We get a good look at the series’ logo which has been printed onto the back of chair. Hanging on the chair is of course Dave Filoni’s iconic hat- Dave Filoni serves as the show’s writer and executive producer.
Apart from an alledged synopsis which teases Grand Admiral Thrawn’s role, we still don’t know a lot about it. Not only that, but we also don’t know when the series will drop. We have received some subtle teases here and there. For example, Bryce Dallas Howard teased that Clone Wars fans would be “greatly rewarded.” This is probably a reference to Hayden Christensen who is set to return as Anakin, Ahsoka’s Master. On top of that, Kathleen Kennedy said that the various shows set within The Mandalorian‘s timeline could culminate in a “climactic story event.” Any idea what that means? Hopefully Ahsoka will throw us a few hints.
However, given Thrawn’s growing popularity and status ambiguity, it might be that Thrawn is the villain that ties these shows together. As a huge Thrawn fan, it might be wishful thinking, but it definitely isn’t impossible. This particular Chiss is an absolute genius who has outsmarted almost every person he has ever encountered. Let him flourish on the big stage and it’ll become clear why Grand Admiral Thrawn has become such a fan favourite amongst avid book readers and Star Wars fans alike.
Currently, Ahsoka stars Rosario Dawnson, Hayden Chrstensen, Ray Stevenson, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo. We’re certain that more familiar faces will join the cast list, so make sure you keep your Jedi senses honed and ready.
