Can you believe that this year marks the 20th anniversary of Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. Now, we know that in the past the George Lucas’ prequels were a… touchy subject, let’s say, but recently they’ve gone through their very own renaissance with a new and inspired love attached to them. As someone who actually grew up with the prequels, I never really understood the disheartening negativity towards the trilogy. My childhood was literally surrounded by “Roger, Roger”, Yoda doing acrobatics, and Anakin hating sand… Life was simpler back then. I digress.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Attack of the Clones, Hot Toys have teased a new wave of collectibles that aim to bring the beloved characters from Star Wars to life with new details and vigor. Currently, the tease features our two favourite droids, R2-D2 and C-3PO- With Threepio donning his rusted and decrepit silver glow.
So, it seems as though this iconic duo will be the first in this new wave. But, who could be next? Looking back at previous Hot Toys figures from the world of Star Wars and Attack of the Clones specifically, we’ve already had Yoda and Count Dooku- Arguably the two biggest characters of Attack of the Clones. Where does that leave us?
Well, there are a few options to consider. We’ve never had a Padme Hot Toy figure. Honestly, that’s the character who stands out the most in regards to characters who deserve their own figure. The brilliant thing about Padme is of course her wardrobe. Why stop at Attack of the Clones?
While we have received figures of Obi-Wan and Anakin based on their appearance in Revenge of the Sith, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to give us figures of their younger selves. However, their appearance in Revenge of the Sith just shouts iconic, doesn’t it? We could also receive some new Clones with the early Phase One armor. There are definitely plenty of options, but to celebrate this amazing anniversary, I think Hot Toys have something very special planned…
