If you loved Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, which really expanded our understanding of some key characters like Dooku and Ahsoka, even ushering in lesser known characters like Yaddle, then you’re going to want to tune in to Disney+ on May 4th. In a surprise announcement, that not even Anakin could have predicted, the official Star Wars instagram dropped a new poster and trailer for Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, a six-part animated anthology that will be available to stream in its entirety on Star Wars Day.
Similiar to Tales of the Jedi, this new anthology series takes us on a galactic journey through the eyes of two very different characters who are on completely separate paths – Nightsister Morgan Elsbeth and former Jedi Barriss Offee. This series will focus on untold events and explore the history of the featured characters. On one path, a young Morgan Elsbeth explores the imperial world while on a path of vengeance. On the other, Jedi Barriss Offee adapts to the new galaxy with the help of some unfriendly faces.
The new poster confirms a load of familiar characters that’ll be appearing in this series, including Thrawn, Grievous, Vader, the Grand Inquisitor, and Fourth Sister.
The voice cast includes Diana Lee Inosanto (Morgan Elsbeth), Meredith Salenger (Barriss Offee), Rya Kihlstedt (Fourth Sister), Wing T. Chao (Wing), Lars Mikkelsen (Thrawn), Jason Isaacs (Grand Inquisitor) and Matthew Wood (General Grievous).
Dave Filoni created the series and is serving as the supervising director and executive producer along with Athena Yvette Portillo and Carrie Beck. Josh Rimes serves as co-executive producer and Alex Spotswood is the senior producer.
