Though season 2 has only aired one episode, production has continued on a third season of Star Trek: Picard. In fact, season 3 began production the day after shooting was completed on season 2. The cast worked through the winter to complete a third batch of episodes and now we’re hearing that shooting has reached its conclusion.
One of the series co-executive producers, Chris Monfette, was first to take to social media to congratulate the cast and crew on completing filming. As you can see from the tweet below Monfette also signals that season 3 will indeed wrap up Admiral Picard’s (Sir Patrick Stewart) story for good.
We’ve known for some time that Picard always had a three season arc in mind. Though there has been some discussion about the show continuing – should Sir Patrick wish to – it seems that, for now, everyone is treating season 3 as the character’s swan song.
Seven of Nine actor Jeri Ryan also chimed in to announce that work has completed on the series, referring to it as a series wrap for her character.
Finally, showrunner Terry Matalas also got involved, confirming on Twitter over the weekend that there were only three more working days left on production. Matalas also took the opportunity to show off a new image from a transporter pad from the show.
Star Trek: Picard season two cast members include Patrick Stewart, Alison Pill, Jeri Ryan, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Orla Brady, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera and Brent Spiner. This season’s cast also includes Annie Wersching and special guest stars Whoopi Goldberg, and John de Lancie. Star Trek: Picard is currently in production on a third season.
Season 2 airs new episodes in the UK on Fridays via Prime Video. In the US the series airs new episodes Thursday’s on Paramount+.
