Review
Every now and then something new turns up to review and catches the eye, this occasion it was the new series from Boom! Studios The Killer: Affairs of the State #1. The book tells a story of a man “Killer” forced into the world of an on call assassin by the government, it’s not something that he had planned to do but looks like it’s the only thing he can do now.
As the book progresses the story starts to unravel a dark web full of corruption and deceit, can Killer adjust to his new life with a handler and a partner? We can only wait and see.
This is an introduction for me to the written work of Matz, I did enjoy the read as he has used his written words to paint a deep and dark picture of what is to come on this corrupt adventure. The illustrations from Luc Jacamon are equally as dark as the story, using a realistic effect makes the story that bit more relatable to the reader.
Verdict
A new series with great potential. The Killer: Affairs of the State will definitely be a slow burner but one with the potential to expand in to something great.
