Fantastic news, fighters. Mortal Kombat 2 is officially moving forward at Warner Bros and New Line Pictures. Not much is actually known about the project at this point. However, Deadline has reported that the studio has hired Moon Knight‘s Jeremy Slater to helm the script.
Some of the cast took to social media to express their excitement. But it was Chin Han’s (Shang Tsung) response that intrigued us the most.
While the first reboot failed to give fans an actual Mortal Kombat tournament, this sequel could actually deliver on that promise with Cole Young hunting down additional fighters and Shang Tsung promising to bring an army. Although, if Tsung brings an army from Outworld, surely we’d be looking at all out war rather than a fighting tournament?
Now that Mortal Kombat 2 has been given the green light as many of us expected- despite the mixed reviews and underwhelming box office result- all we have to do is wait for more news to follow. Maybe some additional castings, or perhaps even an idea of where Mortal Kombat 2 could be heading. Only time will tell.
