Universal Pictures has confirmed it is delaying the release of director Scott Derrickson’s The Black Phone. The film had originally been set to release on February 3, 2022 but will now find itself debuting in UK cinemas on June 24.
Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.
In case you missed it, here’s a look at the film’s trailer:
Scott Derrickson directs, produces and co-writers The Black Phone which stars Ethan Hawke, Madeline McGraw, Jeremy Davies, James Ransone and introducing Mason Thames. The screenplay was co-written with C. Robert Cagill and produced by Derrickson, Cargill and Jason Blum.
Universal Pictures presents The Black Phone in UK cinemas from 24 June 2022.
