Synopsis
Following a message from Regan, Hannah rushes to stop the Chimera as they unleash a deadly attack at a shopping center. But are Barret and the amassed Faithful playing a more sinister game of chess, which will leave Hannah and Regan cornered unable to escape?
Review
One of my stand out series of last year Basilisk has returned with another issue, it certainly goes into the new year with a bang as readers of the series will have come to expect this certainly isn’t a fairytale.
Hannah is still looking at taking down the Chimera but the Chimera are looking for revenge, they are hunting Hannah’s blood. Having to contend with the blood thirsty Chimera is one thing but also staying out the way of the Faithful is another thing altogether, could Hannah’s determination for redemption be her downfall? Surely it eould be better to get as far away as possible to save your life, but for Hannah it just isn’t that easy.
Basilisk as a series introduced me to the work of Cullen Bunn as a writer and I am so glad I have had the opportunity to embrace this series, Cullen doesn’t mess about when it comes to writing pulling every human emotion and putting it into the page for the reader to feel every word of the story that he has created, it’s fantastic and a series I don’t want to end.
Jonas Scharf brings a unique realness to his illustrations bring a more hard hitting effect to each page making the reader feel they are physically in the story themselves really pulling the readers imagination into the pages.
Verdict
An expertly written, deep, dark story with hard hitting illustrations working together creating a masterpiece of storytelling. A dark almost supernatural tale that will appeal to horror readers around the globe. One thing for sure this story is not ready to slow down just yet.
