Seachlight Pictures have announced that Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming film, Nightmare Alley, will be released in cinemas in the UK and in Ireland from January 21st, 2022.
Nightmare Alley is based on the 1946 book by William Lindsay Gresham and focuses on the darker aspects of showbiz. This upcoming thriller will actually mark del Toro’s first movie since 2017’s The Shape of Water.

When charismatic but down-on-his-luck Stanton Carlisle (Bradley Cooper) endears himself to clairvoyant Zeena (Toni Collette) and her has-been mentalist husband Pete (David Strathairn) at a travelling carnival, he crafts a golden ticket to success, using this newly acquired knowledge to grift the wealthy elite of 1940s New York society. With the virtuous Molly (Rooney Mara) loyally by his side, Stanton plots to con a dangerous tycoon (Richard Jenkins) with the aid of a mysterious psychiatrist (Cate Blanchett) who might be his most formidable opponent yet.

Directed by Guillermo del Toro, Nightmare Alley stars Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara. Also joining them are Toni Collette, David Strathairn, Willem Dafoe, Ron Perlman and Richard Jenkins. The film will debut in UK and Irish cinemas on Friday 21st January.
