Christopher Nolan’s Next Feature Film is Set to be a Biopic About J. Robert Oppenheimer

It’s come to light that a Hollywood bidding war may be underway to release the next project from legendary director Chris Nolan.

After Christopher Nolan’s Tenet may or may not have saved cinemas last year at the height of the pandemic, the acclaimed director is returning in spades for his twelfth feature film and it sounds like nothing he has ever done before. Over the years, Nolan has been known for his huge, filmed-for-IMAX blockbusters that are intentionally meant to challenge audiences’s and make peoples brains work overtime to keep up with his high-concept ideas but for his next movie, it seems like he might be toning it down a little bit (I think).

As of right now, details are incredibly vague but the Dunkirk director is eyeing his next project to be about J. Robert Oppenheimer; known to some as “the father of the atom bomb”.  Oppenheimer oversaw the project to create the first atom bomb that was part of the Manhattan Project used during World War 2.

According to Deadline, Nolan is shopping the screenplay to several major studios and keeping his promise to not work with Warner Brothers again after the day-and-date HBO Max fiasco. This opens the door as to which studio will seal the deal and take Christopher Nolan under their wing with Netflix trying incredibly hard to back the director’s next project.

While casting has not taken place, rumours are circulating that frequent collaborator Cillian Murphy (who has appeared in Inception, The Dark Knight Trilogy and Dunkirk) is in discussions with the director to star in the film.

We will keep you posted once more news is announced for this project.
