After an incredibly last minute delay, David Lowery’s The Green Knight has finally found a home in the UK. On September 24th, film fans will finally be able to see Lowery’s sweeping epic in select cinemas and on Amazon Prime to stream from the comfort of your own home.
Having released in the United States on July 30th, critics have been gushing over A24’s biggest movie to date calling it a “masterpiece”and “the best film of the year” which has only built anticipation even more. As of 07/09/21, The Green Knight sits at 88% on the Tomatometer which is incredibly high for an A24 movie.
The film tells the story of Sir Gawain, King Arthur’s reckless and headstrong nephew, who embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight, a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men.
After being originally slated to release last year, a decision was made to delay The Green Knight indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This has made the film one of the year’s most anticipated movies!
The film stars Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) as Gawain, Alicia Vikander as Essel (Ex Machina) along with a great supporting cast, including: Joel Edgerton, Sarita Choudhury, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Barry Keoghan, Erin Kellyman and Ralph Ineson
The Green Knight releases on Amazon Prime and in select cinemas on September 24th, 2021.
