Review
Basilisk is easily one of the series I most look forward to each month. The story is next level intense and is graphically mind blowing. Issue #3 definitely doesn’t stray from that. In fact it ramps up the intensity with an even more gripping story.
Reading the story of ex-Chimera member Regan, on the run and trying to change her life, makes for an interesting albeit quite gorey cat and mouse story. With Hannah at her side wanting to do the opposite and run to the Chimera it puts you on the edge of your seat.
Issue #3 brings different twists to the tale as the Chimera keep up their killing spree whilst on the hunt for Regan. It leaves you questioning: have they gone too far this time? When a mysterious looking figure emerges it proves that there may be some very interesting plot developments in the coming months.
Once again Cullen Bunn has given readers a story like no other. As soon as the issue arrives in my inbox it begs to be read from start to finish. To call it a gripping story is an understatement. The artistic style of Basilisk, from Jonas Scharf, is breathtaking and sometimes stomach churning. It bring a unique form of realism to the book which makes the story more immersive. Guimarães has such a powerful use of colours and tones, once your eyes hit the page you definitely won’t want to look away.
Verdict
Once again a stunningly written book, one that I was genuinely gutted that it finished, I genuinely cannot wait for #4 I think we are in for one hell of a ride.
