Review
As you will know by now I am a big fan of the Power Rangers comics and in particular the story arc from Ryan Parrott. This is easily one of my favourite series at the moment.
Parrott certainly knows how to captivate an audience. Page after page turns with you determined not to put it down. Parrott continually takes the reader on a rollercoaster action-packed Ranger adventure through the galaxy, relentlessly building the story as he goes.
Issue #9 continues the story of the Omega Rangers journey through space. Coming to the aid of planets who find themselves at the mercy of attacks from the villainous Empyreal. Still travelling with the rangers if the mysterious Lord Drakkon. I am still not fully trusting of him as a “good guy”. As the Omega Rangers battle on they also need to settle the last survivors of the Hartunian race which proves to be its own struggle in itself.
Issue #9 is another thrilling story in its own right. Packed with strong emotion but never short on action. Mortarino and Hidalgo are an illustration wonder-team bringing breathtaking visuals to the page with beautiful detail. Every page feels vibrant and perfectly enhances Parrott’s story.
I’m left with the lingering feeling that we still haven’t seen everything from Drakkon. I may be a Ranger-traditionalist but I just don’t trust him. But I also look forward to seeing how the story will pan out.
Verdict
Another great story that we expected to see from this particular creative team, I haven’t yet read a Power Rangers story from Parrott that I haven’t enjoyed, I am sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the next phase of the story in the next issue.
