It looks like Netflix is adding another comic book adaption to its roster. A new report from The Hollywood Reporter details the streamers plans to adapt BOOM! Studios Something Is Killing The Children with Doctor Sleep director Mike Flanagan being tapped to take on the project.
Created by acclaimed writers James Tynion IV and artist Werther Dell’Edera, Something Is Killing The Children launched with rave reviews back in 2019. The first issue alone went on to sell over 175,000 copies with some putting the series sales well in to the millions.
The story takes place in a town called Archer’s Peak, where child abductions are fairly common. Although some of the kids do find their way home, they come bearing stories that no grown-up wants to believe. However, the victims soon find an ally in Erica Slaughter, a monster hunter who claims to see whatever it is that they can see.
Flanagan is said to be working on the project with producing partner Trevor Macy. The pair are no strangers to working with Netflix having collaborated on The Haunting of Hill House and its follow-up, The Haunting of Bly Manor. They have also worked on Stephen King adaptation, Gerald’s Game and are currently collaborating on two other new series for Netflix: Midnight Mass and The Midnight Club.
