The wait is finally over. After its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival back in January 2020, Janicza Bravo’s Zola will finally be releasing in UK cinemas on August 6th, courtesy of Sony Pictures UK. After its Sundance premiere, Bravo’s latest directorial feature received rave reviews with critics praising the performances from Taylour Paige and Riley Keough.
Based on the true story, Zola follows the titular character, a Detroit waitress, who is seduced into a weekend of stripping in Florida for some quick cash. However, the trip soon turns into a sleepless forty-eight hour odyssey involving a nefarious friend, her pimp and her idiot boyfriend.
The film stars Taylour Paige, Riley Keough, Colman Domingo, Nicholas Braun, Ari’el Stachel and Jason Mitchell.
