Review
Being one of the biggest and most successful tag teams ever it would only be a matter of time before The New Day broke into popular media, having already made an appearance in games with the tag team as playable characters in Gears of War multiplayer it was inevitable that one day a comic would be released. And that day is today as Boom! Studios have released The New Day: Power of Positivity a new series highlighting the rise of the iconic trio.
Now I’ll be honest The New Day aren’t one of my favourite tag teams but I do have a big respect for them and was interested to have a bit if an inside snoop behind the story.
Narcisse and Walker take you on a journey with a series of flashbacks telling the rise of the team as individuals and how they came to be the popular all conquering trio. I personally enjoyed this especially Kofi’s story of sitting in front of the TV watching wrestlers such as The Undertaker as that was what I was doing I my younger years also so I found the back story fully relatable. I personally liked how the story is written in a way where it tells the reader a message of anything is possible and with alot of hard work you can achieve your dreams giving inspiration to the many young wrestling fans out there wishing they were in the ring one day. The overall story being a full heartfelt inspiration to the readers.
Being The New Day you kind of get the feeling that this comic wasn’t going to be a dull affair and it definitely isn’t, each and every page jumps out at you with bright colours and detailed illustrations, Bayliss has definitely captured the essence of The New Day.
Verdict
A great feel good read, I would definitely recommend it to any WWE fan wanting to know more about their heroes. I am personally looking forward to #2 to see a bit more of the story of the teams’ epic journey.
