God of War 2 was originally scheduled for release on the PlayStation 5 in 2021. However, Santa Monica Studios announced today that the game is being pushed back to 2022 and will now launch on the PS4 as well as the PS5 which is great news for players who haven’t been able to get their hands on a PS5.
The studio took to Twitter to confirm the news claiming that the decision was made to maintain the safety of its team. While it is definitely a slight punch to the gut, after the disaster that was Cyberpunk we’d much rather have the studio take their time than to simply push out an unfinished game. Especially when you consider the quality of the first installment. God of War was absolutely incredible so we are more than happy to wait for the sequel.

So God of War 2 is coming out in 2022. With that in mind, it will probably be a while before we get a cinematic trailer or even a title drop. Many people seem to believe that the sequel will be called Ragnarok but nothing has actually been confirmed. All we know is that Ragnarok… is coming. Sure, it’s a bit later than expected but Kratos and Artreus are still going to have their hands full dealing with the wrath of the Norse Gods.
We’ll be sure to keep you posted when a date becomes available. Are you excited to play God of War 2? Let us know your thoughts in the comments. Don’t forget to check out more gaming news here.
