From Superman to Sherlock Holmes to Geralt of Rivia, Henry Cavill is no stranger to high profile roles in Hollywood. But now the actor is adding yet another high profile character to his resume with confirmation he’ll be taking on the Highlander reboot which is set to be directed by Chad Stahelski.
The John Wick director and Buffy the Vampire Slayer stuntman signed on to the long-developing project back in 2016 following the departures of both Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and Justin Lin. The film has even circled actors such as Ryan Reynolds and Dave Bautista to star. But it seems the producers have found their new Connor MacLeod in Cavill.
The actor confirmed the news himself via his social media channels shortly after the news broke:
The original 1986 film starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, a swordsman who discovers he possesses an energy known as “the Quickening,” which makes him immortal.
No news yet on when the film will enter production but we’ll keep you posted a more news comes out.
