It looks like Warner Bros. is gearing up for Zachary Levi’s Shazam to take on Atlas and his daughters. It’s been confirmed that former Charlies Angels actor Lucy Liu has joined the cast of Shazam: Fury of the Gods.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Liu will be playing Kalypso, one of the daughters of Atlas. If that sounds familiar that’s because Dame Helen Mirren also recently joined the cast as one of Atlas’ daughters, Hespera. Whilst Kalpso doesn’t have a strong history in DC Comics, Atlas is one of the gods who gives the titular character his powers.
It looks as though returning director David F. Sanberg is gearing up for the Shazam Family to take on Atlas. It’s a surprising move after the post-credits scene in 2019’s Shazam teased more of Mark Strong’s Doctor Sivana and introduced us to Mister Mind.
Production is set to kick off next month with Shazam: Fury of the Gods currently slated for release on June 2nd, 2023.
