According to Deadline, Jodie Turner-Smith is set to star in Netflix’s upcoming prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin. Jodie Turner-Smith is known for her role in Queen & Slim, Nightflyers, and Jett.
For those who don’t know, The Witcher: Blood Origin will be set 1,200 years before the events of The Witcher and will focus primarily on the creation of the first prototype Witcher. The series will be a six-part, live-action limited series from Declan de Barra who will serve as an executive producer along with Lauren Schmidt. Author Andrzej Sapkowski will also serve as a creative consultant on the series.
According to the report, Turner-Smith will play Éile, an elite warrior, who leaves her clan to embark on her dream to become a musician- quite the career change. Éile is forced to abandon her dream when she forced onto a path of vengeance and redemption. It seems likely that an unknown force will butcher her clan forcing her to eventually become the first Witcher. Thus allowing her to exact her revenge.
This isn’t the first spin off show from Netflix. The streamer has also planned an animated feature called The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf, which will focus on Geralt’s mentor Vesemir.
We can’t wait to see how they’ll explore this aspect of The Witcher. The creation of the Witchers is still a bit of a mystery so it will be great to see that expanded. We’ll be sure to keep you in the loop as this show develops
