With the news that Ben Affleck was returning to the role of Batman for Justice League reshoots and The Flash, its got people thinking about his scrapped Batman directorial debut.
But now, in a new interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Deathstroke actor Joe Manganiello has shed some light on what would have been in Affleck’s abandoned film.
“It was a really dark story in which Deathstroke was like a shark or a horror movie villain that was dismantling Bruce’s life from the inside out,” explained Manganiello. “It was this systemic thing: He killed everyone close to Bruce and destroyed his life to try and make him suffer because he felt that Bruce was responsible for something that happened to him.”
It seems that plans were for Slade Wilson to go after those associated with both Batman and Bruce Wayne. Targeting the vigilante from all angles.
“It was really cool, really dark and really hard,” added Manganiello. “I was very excited for it.”
The actor also went on to elaborate on exactly what happened with his credit scene appearance in Justice League. It seems his original appearance was set to kick-off the storylines which would play out in Batman.
“They reshot all of [Jesse Eisenberg’s] dialogue to tease Justice League Part 2, which was going to be about the Injustice League,” said Manganiello. “All of that dialogue was about Batman originally, and it was changed to lines like ‘Shouldn’t we have a league of our own?’”
Manganiello ended the interview hoping that he would once again get to play Deathstroke and confirming has he shot new footage with Zack Snyder for the Justice League mini-series.
