According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures and Hasbro have eyed Creed 2 director Steven Caple Jr. to direct their new Transformers movie. It appears as though negotiations are yet to begin, it looks like Paramount Pictures have selected Caple as their first choice.
So, what does that mean for the Transformers universe? Well the entire universe has been retconned thanks to 2018’s Bumblebee. While Bumblebee’s overall design was reminiscent of his “Bayverse” look, all of the events have completely changed. Including when Optimus and his comrades arrive on Earth.
The studio decided to push for two scripts that are in active development. One by James Vanderbilt and the other by Joby Harold. The next installment in the franchise will reportedly follow Harold’s script.
It’s not entirely clear what these two films will be about. One could be a follow up to Bumblebee, while the other could present an alternative reality. A previous Deadline report states that Vanderbilt’s project could be based on Beast Wars.
