Things have been very quiet on the Transformers franchise front following the relative success of 2018’s Bumbelbee. But now a new rumour suggests that Paramount Pictures might be looking to start work on the next phase of the franchise.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Pictures is developing not one, but two new Transformers films. Screenwriters Joby Harold and James Vanderbilt have signed to handle the scripting stage of production. Harold and Vanderbilt are rumoured to each write one of the movies, which are planned to continue in simultaneous development.
No word on directors for either project at the moment.
Joby Harold is known for co-writing Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead film for Netflix. Vanderbilt most notably wrote the script for Zodiac, the David Fincher thriller.
What is unknown at this stage is whether these films are set to continue to world built by Michael Bay or if these new films signify a reboot/re-start for the long-running franchise.
