Netflix is set to produce a brand new series with David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo serving as the writers and executive producers. The trio will work together to adapt the award-winning Chinese book series The Three-Body Problem written by Liu Cixin.
The series will cover all three books in Cixin’s trilogy. The Three-Body Problem, The Dark Forest, and Death’s End. The trilogy depicts Humanity’s first contact with an alien civilization. Netflix made a deal with Yoozoo Group and The Three-Body Universe to produce an English adaptation.
Check out what Benioff and Weiss had to say about their new and exciting project:
“Liu Cixin’s trilogy is the most ambitious science-fiction series we’ve read. Taking readers on a journey from the 1960s until the end of time. From life on our pale blue dot to the distant fringes of the universe,”
While the project is still very far away, you cannot help but admire the team collaborating for this project. In addition to Benioff, Weiss, and Woo, Rian Johnson serves as Executive Producer. Brad Pitt and Rosamund Pike are also joining as producers. Author Liu and Ken Liu, who translated translated the books into English, have joined the series as consulting producers.
Cixin’s trilogy: The Three-Body Problem, The Dark Forest, and Death’s End (also known as Remembrance of Earth’s Past trilogy)
Author Liu Cixin also added:
“I have the greatest respect for and faith in the creative team adapting The Three-Body Problem for television audiences. I set out to tell a story that transcends time and the confines of nations, cultures and races; one that compels us to consider the fate of humankind as a whole. It‘s a great honor as an author to see this unique sci-fi concept travel and gain fandom across the globe. And I am excited for new and existing fans all over the world to discover the story on Netflix.”
I am pretty unfamiliar with this trilogy of books but after doing some research… it sounds pretty riveting. While We are sure that some audiences still have trust issues after Season 8 of Game of Thrones. It sounds like this could be a very exciting and epic show.
