It comes as no surprise that Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron has become a fan-favourite Star Wars character. Poe burst in to the franchise in The Force Awakens and has been a staple of the new movies through 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.
But now a new interview with Isaac has surfaced to cast doubt on whether he will return in the future. Deadline recently sat down with Isaac and fellow actor Paul Schrader to discuss their upcoming indie flick, The Card Counter.
During the interview Isaac was asked if he would be returning to a Galaxy Far, Far Away in the future. His response was to reaffirm that his passion is working on independent, “handmade” type films.
“If I need another house or something,” said Isaac. “I’ve felt like I had been a man in a desert for many years because I’ve been serving these bigger films.”
Reflecting on his time in the franchise, he did have a few good words to say. “I enjoyed the challenge of those films and working with a very large group of incredible artists and actors, prop makers, set designers, and all that was really fun.”
All three of Isaac’s Star Wars films are available to buy now on digital, DVD and Blu-ray. You can also stream the whole franchise on Disney+.
