Shortly after Aladdin hit the big screen rumours began to swirl that Disney was looking to potentially make a sequel to its latest hit, live-action remake. Now Variety is reporting that the studio is moving forwards with development on a sequel.
The trade is reporting that the studio is currently in the very early stages of developing an original sequel to the billion-dollar blockbuster. It is reporting that John Gatins (Real Steel) and Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton) are currently penning the script.
It is believed that the story will be entirely original and will not follow either of the direct-to-video sequels released following the animated original.
The Hollywood Reporter has also picked up on the rumour and has confirmed that Guy Ritchie is set to return to direct the sequel.
