Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is set to begin filming in July of this year with Jaume Collet-Serra at the helm. According to a rumor coming from GWW, it appears as though the sequel to Shazam! will also begin filming in July 2020.
With this rumor circulating, it won’t be long before we start learning about filming locations and production dates. Although it is worth noting that these are mere rumors at the moment. So it is best to take them with a grain of salt.
However, if it is indeed true that production for both DC movies begins in the same month… There could be something larger at work.
While it has been confirmed that Shazam and Black Adam won’t lock fists straight away, perhaps a similar production date means that we can expect some form of cameo.
The fact that Black Adam is getting his own solo film allows him to grow which is brilliant. However, much like Shazam! did, they need to start dropping bread crumbs that will lead us towards the inevitable showdown. Cameo appearances from both Dwayne Johnson and Zachary Levi or Asher Angel would be a great way to increase excitement and anticipation.
Warner Bros. has given Shazam! 2 a release date of April 1st, 2022 and Black Adam is going to be out a few months earlier on December 22nd, 2021. You can find out more information about the Sequel here.
